Raising tent villages
In attempts of rehabilitation of the earthquake victims, the government has decided to build tent villages across the country, the Prime Minister on tuesday announced,
I urge the people still living besides their destroyed houses to descend to the valleys and live in the tent villages where they can be properly looked after
He said 1.1 million tents would be sent to quake affected areas within a few days.

Maj-Gen Khan said 37 factories in the Punjab were producing 75,000 tents per day and its number would be increased further. He said all available resources were being mobilised for the relief of the earthquake victims of the NWFP and Azad Kashmir. He added that the Pakistan Army troops and helicopters were reaching the far-flung earthquake-hit areas and supplying them food, medicines and transporting and airlifting the injured persons to the hospitals and medical centers. Additionally 22,000 troops are engaged in relief and rescue operation in earthquake affected areas. If needed, more troops would be deployed for the rescue and relief operation, he said.
Tentage villages had been set up in Balakot and other areas hit by the earthquake and medical camps had also been established for injured persons in the tentage villages. Maj-Gen Khan said the Saidu Sharif airport in Swat was being used to collect the relief goods for onward supply to the remotest earthquake hit areas of the NWFP and AJK. The Pak Army helicopters made 140 sorties on Monday as part of its relief and rescue operations in quake hit areas.
He said Kaghan-Naran road and other roads in the area had been badly damaged. He added that Pakistan Army Jawans were reaching far-flung quake-hit areas and engaged actively in relief and rescue operations.
