Over 18,000 dead in Pakistan from quake
Over 18,000 people were killed in Pakistan in the huge earthquake on Saturday, military spokesman Major General Shaukat Sultan said.
Talking to Geo TV here on Sunday, Director General ISPR Shaukat Sultan said so far 18,020 persons were killed. A large number of people were killed in the worst hit areas of Azad Kashmir where 17155 people were killed while remaining casualties were reported from Pakistani areas.
He informed that 215 army personnel were also among the dead while 414 others sustained injuries.
He said Muzaffarabad, Bagh and Rawlakot were among the worst quake-hit areas of Azad Kashmir and so far 41188 persons were injured.
Shaukat Sultan further said there were still some areas where relief teams could not reach hence number of casualties could rise.
