When rebuilding, everyone should use the sturdy and reasonably priced homes pictured on this site:

Hello,

These are excellent pictures. I’m helping to develop a rapid-response system to disastrous earthquakes like this one. This research is going to be published in our local institutional newspaper (Scripps Inst. of Oceanography, San Diego). I’d like to get permission to use the first image above from the source. Could the appropriate person e-mail me at walker@ucsd.edu? We need to get a response in the next few days.

Thank you very much,
Kris Walker

this~ web site hav many .. pictures..i was shoked of hear that in pakistan.. comes a earthquake..ohh..GOD save
us & our pepoles always pary of thems all..

we should get lesson that is given by God to us by these pictures this earthquake told us that we should follow the teachings of Islam. And we should say prayres five times a day and we should not do that works that are opposite of the teachings of Islam.

You can certainly capture the devastation.
We are a small Documenatry film company from Canada heading to Muzzafarabad.
My colleuge has just returned from there with Canadian Relief Foundation (CRF) “I can be a thousand times more useful with our camera than a needle” he says.
We will be filming the before and after affects of the devastation and the lack of media attention it is getting. With that in mind, the lack of support for rebuilding.
We would be looking at before pictures, if available,to include in the documentary.
Please give me your insight-we are here to help!

Damages of Earthquake and People of Shangla NWFP Pakistan
It was morning of October 8, 2005 when a powerful and devastating earthquake struck the northern part of Pakistan causing major destruction and playing havoc with millions of lives. The affected areas were the Shangla, Mansehra, Bata gram, Kohistan, Abbotabad districts and four districts of Azad Jammu & Kashmir. More than 70,000 people lost their lives out of those 35,000 were children who were attending schools at that time. Most of the civil society infrastructure such as schools, colleges, roads, and hospitals were collapsed and destroyed. The Thousands of Kacha & Pacca dwelling houses are completely demolished, while others are partially damaged which are not fit for further use as these are dangerous and life risk is involved in their further use. Recent devastating earth quake badly affected almost whole population of the District in one or other shape.

The remote district of Shangla consists of scattered populations 554818 divided into tiny, mountain-top hamlets spread out across a vast area. No one knew that how many mothers lost there childern and how many childern have lost there parents. This Gap of generation disaster will never be filled for many years

…It is so saddening, even so many years later. The memory
of all the earthquake victims will remain in our hearts forever. It
is so hard to get on with life ever since this happened, everytime
I think of pakistan, the first that comes to mind is the
destroyed buildings, even three years later. I hope and pray that we
all do our best to help the victims of the 2005 earthquake.

it is a terrible disaster millions of people lost their lives, homes and everything we pray 2 god that our country Pakistan will save from these natural disasters. (amen))

I have established a dialysis centre since feb 2006 for effectives of earthquake in Rawalpindi I want ot affilated this centre with NGO who can support in this regard and help the poor patient

aslamoalikum everyone in pakistan recollecting 8oct2005 i can easily rate that horrible day as one of the most terrible and aweful day of my life i was working as honorary medical officer in neurosurgery dept aiesnd at the same day three of our collegues drahsan aurangzeb ,dr kashif, and dr adnan were at leave so it was upto me and professor sajjid nazir bhatti head of dept to deal with massive casualties of earthquake victims almost 60percent of whome had head and spinal injuries.my first case would you believe it or not was one of my best friend drsherkhan from gilgit .he sustained severe head injury while jumping from the window of his room on the top of m.o hostel[amc].i was destined to see his horrible jump because just at the neck of time that i was running out of the gate of hoste i heared the most drizzling sound and as i turned to my right i saw something pounding just at the bay of hostel gate all of a sudden he was fully drenched with blood oozing of his nose mouth eyes and ears.i wqas so shocked that my legs got cramped and i forgot for a while what has happened
i started crying for help but everyone was so frightened that they could only watch at last dr shahzaman who is also gilgitti we took him and in the outskirts of amc under a tree i examined him and found that he had to be dealt with a team of ortho/neuro/ent surgeons as he had depressed nasal maxillary and skull fractures with almost all long bones fractures.but amzingly had glasgow coma scale 14/15 and intact vertebral column.after that we were recieving terront of casualties loaded in all sorts of vehicles including trucks and tractors like sacks of flour and curtains of items .thanks to the generous public and doctors all over pakistan who came and ehlped us in many many ways.whatever we needed at that time and those critical moments we had them all. after dealing all the victims for almost three weeks emergency was over and we retuned back to our wards but every day we could feel aftershocks and many a day patients could be droven out in the eve of earthquake returning back in shart it was very testing to control and manage and treat our patients.after that i joined mercy corps and worked as team leader for 5 months and during this time i experienced the real image of this disaster .working with an ngo was a pleasant experience but at times i could not control my emotions to see many peaple homeless and having lost thier dear and near ones.at this point i have to stop and i do not want to go in to further details as my heart is still beating fast while recollecting those scenes i pray to allah to bless all those families who suffered and to grant them with patience and prosperity once again.yours sincere dr.amanullah afghani.

I WAS SHOKED AND DISHEARTED WHEN I HEARED THIS “BAD NEW”. . . WELL IN FRONT OF MY EYES IT WAS DEADLY CURSE . . . IT WAS OUTPUT FROM ALMIGHTY ALLAH IN RESULT OF OUR INPUTS OR DEADS…. IT IS GIVING US ADVICE OF BEING TRUE MUSLIM… THAT’S IT… IN LAST I WANNA PRAY FOR ALL OF US; MAY ALLAH PROTECT SOULS OF THEM WHO GOT MARTYRDUM AND MAY MY MAULA SAVE ALLL MUZLIS FROM ACCIDENT’S LIKE THIS.. AMEEEN SUMM AMEEN ILAHI AMEEN
