Donations required for Bagh, Azad Kashmir

This is an update of whats happening in District
Bagh , PakistaniKashmir . The intended audience are my relatives in UK, USA and Canada and my friends in and outside Pakistan. You may forward this mail to other friends who might be interested in helping us out in the aid effort.I visited Bagh on the day after the quake and managed to get a team of people from the survivors from amongst the locals to manage the distribution across Bagh. Amjad Yousaf will co-ordinate the aid from his house in the city centre (or what was the city centre). We intend to get food, medical, tents, sleeping bags across hopefully to each remote village in Bagh. In my estimate there have been 20,000 dead just in Bagh. And many more will die because of pneumonia and hunger in the next few days if we dont get these basic necessities across to them.
What we have done uptil now is to send a heavy machine to clear the land slide on the dholi road going out from Bagh city. Tomorrow we need to send two more machines across towards bagh to sudn-gali land slide. This will help us establish road links with the remote villages making aid distribution easier. The army is helping as much as it can but we must realise that they need help as much help as the locals do in Bagh. There is no civil administration, it got wiped out in the quake. The major politicians and political workers also died. Most college going youngsters died. So we are working with very minimal human resources in Bagh to distribute aid.
Theres lots of aid available in islamabad (food, clothing, medical stuff) but the problem we are facing right now is in getting this stuff to Bagh. So we need to hire trucks (a rare commodity now given the pressing need over vast areas) and heavy equipment for clearing landslides. Secondly, given the transport bottle neck we are intending to buy food stuff from whole salers in Bagh who have decided to hoard goods in their warhouses understandably! We have been discussing a possibiliy of a negotiated price for buying food stuff from these warehouses in Bagh. These are the ways in which your money will be immediately used. If you are interested and able to contribute you can give in money at the following accounts. We will give a balance sheet at the end of the aid process which in my estimate will take over a few months. The best way to transfer funds would be through Western Union unless you want to use HSBC e-transfer to my account. Please also send an email with details of what amount you have sent and to which account so that we can keep track of your donations.

I am Amjid Ali from Dubai, I visited Bagh second day of earth quake I was Teaching Computer in Spring Field School, Pearl Valley School and Many other computer Institute of Bagh, Most of My Students were from Spring Field School and It was a greate shock for me when I saw dead bodies of my students, which were taken out from the rubble, more than 30 people are died from our community and I can’t forget this quake in my whole life becuase many of my former collegues are died, and I can’t explain the position of Girls High School, Boys High School, Girls College and Boys college. But I request all to Support the Survivals and to help all the victims of EarthQuake especially in Bagh District because what i have seen there is Muzaffarabad is the Capital of AK and supporters are keeping eyes on that city only and Bagh is also effected and many people are there waiting for tents/Shelter. My name is Zulqurnain and I am in USA at this time my father went to Bagh 3rd day of earthquake and he was not able to explain the condition of any gov’t building.
My uncle Shakoor who is a teacher in Boys high school Said I can’t give up on voices of little children ages 6 yo 15 which says Teacher gi we are still alive please don’t leave us alone take us out of here.
Just thinking of those voices of small kids what would you imagine what would you think.
My neighbour doughter 8 years old playing in the garden died. Another neigbour ran our of school but died in the Bagh Bazar.
My cousin run out of spring field died when the wall feel down from the girls high school on him.
Please support the victims of Bagh.

There are more then 90 deaths in my family some people who I did not really know from my family and some of them really close to me.
I appeal you people to please not forget the victims of earthquake who have died and was not able to wear new cloths on the Eid was not even around us.

I was a formal student of Pearl Valley and then The Boys High school.
My class fellows more then 200 of them died in the college.
So please come walk together and the people which have survive tell them we are with you.

i belongs to bagh ajk, when i heard the news of this shocking erathquake i was just stunned that what happened this to my place where i grew up and spent most of my time.i still am imagining the spring field school, we’re just the first class of that school back in 80′s where my 8 years old niece mehroo died, where we contributed for those swings and other things in small play ground, the girls high school is also just infront of my eyes where i used to share the laughters with my friends and then the girls degree college of which we were so proud of that we had a post graduate college eventually in such a small city. my officer’s colony, those long stairs and then the bazzar, where we all community members were just like a family; beautifull houses on the up hills and scenic view of bagh city and what not.although its just like a place where one can only imagin now all those things. what i am told is just unbelievabe, but besides all this grief and sudden change all we need to stand united and ask for the forgivness of all mighty allah, no doubt he is great and have all the rights. i am sure once again i will see my city alive, full of activity and unity with the help of allah inshallah.in the end i request you all to play your part in constructing it again, in taking the life back to its normal routine, in bringing the morale up of the people who are once again blessed with life, and despite of being member to any party, any group, any sect stand united, firm and strong; and follow the path of allah and his rasool(pbuh).i also condole on the deaths and praying that may allah rest their souls.i would also appreciete the effort of launching such a usefull website to creat the awarness about earthquake in general and bagh in special.thanks a lot may allah bless us all.

I went to Bagh and I did not have enough couroge in me to see what have happened to my beautiful Bagh.
Please help us, Support us and Allah will give you more for your support.

My comments is that Can we say that the donated aid is reaching to the affected needy victim exacetly?
Can we say that our system the distribution is fair?
Can we say that our authorities specially patwaries are not involve in corruption?
Can we have any check and balance ‘audit system’ our the aid distribution authorities?
We should not beg the world that provide us more and more money, we should also ensure that the donated amount is used properly. I can surely say that we waste lot of time after earthquake and we increase un-employment, we minimise the opportunity of business. We tourcher the public. I am from Dhir Kot (Bagh AJK). I see the people are not working from the last one year. They are daily going to the ERRA office and get date to date for aid. Untill now that they can’t get the 1st installment of 75000.
Is ERRA have any website ?
Is there any special design technology for reconstruction houses?
Is the people are getting full information about earthquake proof technology?
Total promiss amount to build a house is around US$ 2600+/-. Is it enough to import earthquake technology from japan and US.
My suggestion is that we should stop begging anymore, reconstruction / rehabitation contract should be alloted to some foreign country.
All detail information to bring in public notice, ERRA web site to be develop immediately.
Audit team should be detailed and account statements of the senior aid distributing authorities including all patwaries should be carried out.

first i would like to say thanks for all who participate for the help of earthquake victim .
just i want to give you the current satuation of bagh. still people don’t have shelters ,winter is coming soon .those people who living on the cliff or far from bagh city ,they don’t have.ERRA has not yet paid fund to all.Government of pakistan announced special fund for all Earthquake victims. but bagh people still don’t have.very lazy policy of ERRA.still we have many difficulties .plz help us we are looking forward for ur cooperation .

I used to teach at Girls Degree College Bagh, and am worried sick about my former collegues. I saw names of Amjad Yousaf and Majid yousaf in your request. I would like to know about Hamida (Majid’s sister), Farkhanda,Ms Rashida (Lecturer in Political Science), Riffat Shafi (Lecturer in Chemistry), Manzoor Hussain (Lecturer in Policitcal Science. I would highly appreciate if you are able to tell me if they survived the quake. Also I would like to donate to help people of Bagh. Thanks alot.
