I am seeking information about Kohat City and the Kohat University of Science and Technology, not far west of Islamabad in NWFP (see website). No news has appeared internationally.
Kohat City is located in the SW quadrant of the main affected area. It appears to be on the periphery. If the the city has not been too badly affected, then people in this area may be well situated to provide help in adjacent areas that are more affected - but the helpers will need help also!

I’m looking for information about Mrs Saira Akhtar, she was due to fly to Pakistan on Saturday on PIA. I don’t know if the plane was diverted or not or if she got there safely.

  3. Kashif Aziz Says:

David: You can get PIA flight schedule from their website. You can also email/phone them for further information.

Peter: Apparently Kohat was hit by the quake but no definite news is out yet. Things are still in the grey but hopefully they will get clear as soon as the roads to thoes areas are reopened.

it is very sad that 3 star general from peshawar comes up on TV says that there is no problem in N.WF.P and people have exagerated the position?
where ias he is suppose to coordinate releif work, he eeven flew above Balakot worst hit area where there is no survivor how he could give such irresponsible statement? the result is that solders did not arrive Balakot and were stationed 15 minutes away when local and BBC correspondenece went there and told those soldres to move and extend help whereas they were doing nothing? what one expect from such irresponsible people that even during crises situation they can not forsee any helping hand instaed raisng doubts, who will ask this gentlemen and who will bring him to task being so irresponsible?
are people trapped aleins? it is shame to listen to such comments when entire world is looking and doing releif work
