Computer Associates announces donations for quake victims

Computer Associates (CA), one of the world’s largest management software companies, Tuesday announced a donation of $37,900 to the Edhi Foundation in response to the requests for aid to the victims of the earthquake.

Edhi Foundation is one of the most respected organisations when it comes to relief work in distressed areas in Pakistan and other parts of the world.

The donation was raised by CA employees based in Pakistan and the Arab countries through CA’s Matching Charitable Gifts Program, a worldwide program, which encourages CA employees to contribute to the charities and communities of their choice by matching cash donations to qualified organisations by 200 percent.

NATO concludes operations in quake areas

The North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO) force has announced the conclusion of its 90-day operations in the earthquake-affected areas of Pakistan.

Speaking at a joint news conference in Islamabad on Tuesday, NATO Ambassador Maurits Jochems and Relief Team Commander Air Commodore Andy Walton said that the NATO forces had successfully completed their mission. They said that the NATO forces were leaving Pakistan with fond memories, and expressed gratitude to the Pakistani government and armed forces for their support in carrying out relief operations. They appreciated the “effective” Pakistani leadership for tackling the disaster with “patience and great courage”, and extending all possible support to relief teams from the world over. They said that it was a matter of satisfaction for NATO that local people encouraged them, recognised their services and extended remarkable hospitality.
